   My first dog (as an adult) was an oversized miniature poodle. One time I took him to Roosevelt Island, which is in the Potomac River, and the trail ran a bit too close to the water. Suddenly, he was on his back, rolling in what turned out to be a dead fish. Not a prissy poodle, that one!

   And yes, I know Barney is a fictional character, but we shouldn’t confuse what a character says with the author’s thoughts or beliefs.

   It’s Barney who refers to “tape,” and he’s leading up to his Rose Mary Woods punchline. Barney is also old enough to think of recordings as tapes, even when knowing they’re not.

   You must be young, or at least younger than those of us who got this. The panel is based on a poster for the movie “The Graduate,” which came out in 1967. I must have seen the movie somewhat later, as I doubt my parents would have let me see it as a pre-teen.
