So who is Pierre S. de Beaumont and what has he to do with anything? According to Wikipedia:
His widowed mother married Bud Fisher, the creator of the strip, in 1925; they soon separated but never divorced, so when Bud died in 1954 Aedita inherited Mutt & Jeff. She died in 1985 and it passed to her son Pierre, Bud’s stepson.
Pierre is better known for co-founding Brookstone in 1965. He died in 2010.
