Let me help clarify things for people. We are not actually getting rid of pennies. In fact, the United States Treasury has not stopped minting pennies as of 2025, although discussions about discontinuing them have been ongoing for years. The idea is, and it’s one that has been known for a long time, that it costs by far more than a penny to produce a penny. In 2024, the cost to mint a penny was 3.69 cents, leading to significant financial losses. However, pennies are integral to our monetary system because it would be impossible to make change for anything less than a nickel. It would totally disrupt the way that pricing and taxing is done in this country. I mean, what would you do if you had something for 99 cents? Are you going to give them back a nickel, or are you just going to say sorry, you lose a penny on every transaction? You people have to start using your brain, not your mouth. There’s an expression about how you have two ears and one mouth for a reason. So close your mouth and turn on your listening ears. Start paying attention to what’s really happening in the world and not just complaining about stupid things. That’s why they feed you this fodder, so that you can distract yourself with the least important things that are happening in life.
