There are so many people we should all thank on National Teacher Day. Like... uh... Ms. Somethingorother and, um... Mr. Thatguy? and -- okay, none really come to mind. Well, maybe I'd have an easier time listing further examples of educators who shaped my life if one of them had bothered teaching me how to actually remember teacher names!

Fortunately for all of us, comic strips are highly effective name teachers, with characters introducing themselves by name nearly every time they appear. Why, it's even easy for me to internalize the names of teachers, especially when so many of them are delightfully disgruntled.
