Halloween Hilarity: The Greatest Great Pumpkin References
by The GoComics TeamPeanuts' resident blanket-holder Linus has been evangelizing The Great Pumpkin since 1959, but the faithful remain few and far between. Sure, Snoopy and Peppermint Patty have tagged along with Linus on some Halloween nights, waiting for the mythological jack-o'-lantern of lore to emulate Santa Claus, but it's usually under some kind of duress.
Fortunately for Linus, several cartoonists are Great Pumpkin converts. Whether they've read the scores of Peanuts strips or simply watched the 1966 animated special, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, a few seem to believe that the unseen spirit of the season will eventually manifest. But how will they know? Aside from a teaser illustration showing a smiling jack-o'-lantern atop a ghostly body, GPB's (Great Pumpkin Believers) have had to simply rely on faith with Great Pumpkin references in their own comic strips.
We've collected every Great Pumpkin reference in our archive to prepare you for the gourd's eventual reveal. See and believe, below.
