by The GoComics TeamNot just any hour can get its own day, but in the case of the bar-special-inspiring Happy Hour, a 23-hour extension seems inherently worthy.
Nobody really knows exactly when or how the term "Happy Hour" came into the modern lexicon, but there are plenty of theories starting around 1913 and extending into the Prohibition era. Our theory is that bars, restaurants and other spots wanted money during their pre-dinner slowdowns from workers desperately seeking relief after a long day. Whatever the case, it's a global phenomenon that strategic eaters can take advantage of to score cheap drinks (and eats) if their schedule allows.
