Man, as a progressive I feel that too much was given up by Banker Joe on things in the bill such as Joe Manchin getting his 300 mile “Mountain Valley” pipeline to funnel fossil fuels obtained by fracking from his home state to Southern VA. Also the bill probably ensures that student loan repayments will begin soon:
Obviously a lot of pork was hidden to secure votes from both sides though progressives of integrity tended to vote “no” in a show of protest to giving up too much.
I also saw that respected intellectual and activist Doctor Cornel West has decided to run as the “People’s Party” candidate.
As for Joe Manchin, apparently he is dead man walking and thinking about running third party himself as he knows his chances of retaining his senate seat in WV is slim to none:
My guess is that Manchin will actually draw away from repubbas and the potential Libertarian candidate but Dr West will draw the interest of progressives who tire of the centrist Democratic platform. Dr West’s platform will be similar to those put forth by Ralph Nader, Bernie and Dr Jill Stein. It is worth taking a look at by the party in blue instead of caving into the alt right.
