Wally rather reminds me of my assistant manager at my last job. He so enjoyed the prestige of being a manager, loved the extra pay, and, most of all, loved being able to get away with so much more unwork. He liked the asst.mgr part of the job more than the get out there and generate new customers part. So, when his manager dance began to get him into trouble with the manager, he announced he’d be going in to have open heart surgery. This began his two month paid vacation. There was no surgery, just meds. When the company finally found out what he was doing, they gave him a suggestion. He could continue to “recuperate” but without pay. Then, he had a miraculous recovery.
