There’s no such word as “alright.” It’s “all right.” Using “alright” as if it were okay is no different from using “ain’t” or “I ain’t got no money.” It conveys ignorance, i.e., lack of education, or a level of perversity that sneers petulantly at correct English in a silly, futile attempt to portray ignorant dialog in print, as if one could distinguish between the sound of “all right” and “alright.” There are lots of ignorant folks out there who read “alright” and think that it’s really a word and then use it in all sorts of documents.
