The post-christmas clean up
We are way beyond needing to tidy up at my house. I swear to God, at this point we're just looking for survivors.
Dicky: I found one
Baby: Oh hey dad
Gentle reminder to all the students out there (and us older folks too). My family was poor growing up. My Mum did the best she could (prioritizing trips to family in Scotland, over gifts, et c) but I would usually be ‘sick’ the first day or two after Winter break as it was hard for me to constantly hear about the other kids gift haul. Not to say you cannot be excited, but please be mindful that others may not be as lucky as you were, and if you notice them looking sad, or upset, maybe change the topic. Inviting them to play with your cool new stuff can also ease the pain a bit, but again, feel them out and be aware that though they are surely glad for you, their friend, they may be a bit sad to note the discrepancy in fancy gifts.
PSA over, have a great holiday season, whatever you celebrate!
