I’ll stray a bit into conservative territory for a moment, and make an observation about a large segment of our society today:
Yes, there are a lot of good people struggling to make ends meet.
And then there are a whole bunch of the younger generation who I refer to as “$35,000 millionaires” – people who have never once practiced the concept of “deferred gratification” or “living within one’s means”.
They’re on assistance, subsidized housing, SNAP, etc….
….walking around with the newest iPhones, $150 hairdo/mani/pedi’s, smoking $8/pack cigarettes, buying lottery tickets and cases of beer, to go home, sit on their junkfood-enlarged butts, watching satellite TV, so we can pay for their eventual free healthcare to treat their cancer and high blood pressure. This isn’t conjecture, or something I read online. I see this every single day. Every. single. day.
“We want it all”.
“Because others have it”.
“Because we deserve it. "
“We don’t care our income can’t afford it.”
“Or save up for it.”
“It’s not our fault we’re always broke.”
“It’s the government’s fault……….”
…..Gawd, I sound like my grandparents……
