W(ar).Crime, you’re missing the point here. With my current AT&T DSL, my download speed is limited to around 600 KiloBytes per second…but I can use that speed 24/7 for the entire month without incurring additional charges.
Why should I switch to Comcast cable? Yes, I could get 3-4 times the download rate (for a higher base cost), but if I made heavy use of it, I’d hit my total download restriction within a few days, and then have to sell my house in order to pay for the additional downloaded bytes.
I dunno how long AT&T is going to keep supplying unlimited DSL, but as long as they do, they have me as a customer.
Unlike their cellphone service. I’d been a customer of theirs for over a decade, but when my six-phone family recently made the jump to smartphones, we had to abandon AT&T and switch to Verizon, because for the same monthly data cost, Verizon gives us unlimited downloads, whereas AT&T would have limited us to only 2 GB…with a huge charge for going over.
