After steadily declining for decades, there has been a slight uptick in the US Birth Rate. My gut is telling me that the reason for this uptick is that the early Millennials (those born in the 80’s as opposed to the 90’s) are now reaching their 40’s and realizing it’s now or never. Back in the early 80’s, the Boomers had that same epiphany and produced the “Baby Boomlet” that produced the Millennials. As for the future, we need to find some common ground on sustainability and to fix the damage to our planet that’s still reversible. Humans are a remarkably adaptable species, and I am confident that we will move forward as a planet. Finally, the migrant crisis. These migrants are fleeing poverty and corruption and are looking for a better life. If we can improve the situation in these countries they’re fleeing, perhaps there will be far fewer fleeing here. You can usually tell how well a country’s doing when you compare the number of people trying to get in versus the number of people trying to get out.
