People: O, Great Obama - people are getting restless. Your audience is starting to wander off. Please say something soon because we're all going broke. You need to tell us the answer to all this. What is the answer? Give us the answer! The answer - now! Barack Obama: This is the beginning of the end...Or rather, the end of the beginning...or the beginning of the end of the beginning...I'm sorry - I've forgotten the question...
I’ll bite Danielsangeo. Socialism is where all the property, all the industries, and all the money earned from property and industries is owned by “the community as a whole” (from a dictionary). This is largely interpreted as being held by the government on behalf of the entire country’s population. This has, and never will be I wager, existed in its pure form in anything larger than a commune. I don’t think it is practical and/or there will always be people who will rise to a position of control who will corrupt the system. I have no problem with geniuses who change our life like Bill Gates getting rich. I have problems with rich people who think they shouldn’t have to pay taxes to the same level as the rest of us. (They have loopholes that allow them to pay, as a percentage of their income, much less than your normal middle class household.) I have problems with CEOs making 450% of the average salary, thinking they sh*t gold (into gold toilets), and thinking they deserve bonuses for their bad decisions. Spending as much on interior decorating their offices as would provide 200 people w/ a living wage plus benefits. THAT is as badly skewed in one direction as socialism is in the other.
