Yes, especially if they were foil. My first dog also got into some mini peanut butter cups my ex-mother-in-law left on a short table. I can’t remember the “outcome” for sure; I think she threw the wrappers up. I was more astonished that they’d been left within the dog’s reach, after we’d warned her not to leave them down low.
She’d had a dog (years) before, too — an Old English Sheepdog, who’d eaten an entire batch of pigs in blankets from the top of the stove once; so it wasn’t a new concept that dogs could stand on their hind legs to reach food. Common sense wasn’t her strong suit, obviously.
Awww! Yuck. I had a dog eat a one-pound candy bar my ex gave me for Valentines Day. I thought I’d left it at work, when he came in and asked where it was … because the wrapper was on the living room floor! The vet said the 25 pound dog would likely be fine, but said if we wanted him to throw it up, force feed him hydrogen peroxide. We got it to work, though weren’t quite prepared for how effective it was; and fortunately managed to keep him from re-eating it, while we cleaned it off the towel and ourselves.
The hippo with the basket … not exactly a balloon ;) Had to correct myself!
