The Daily Cartoonist posted a relevant article, with this Sunday strip as the first item; see: HttpS://Www.DailyCartoonist.Com, and search for “csotd-seven-more-days-in-may”, dated 25-Apr-2024.

Gene Weingarten explained: “… I was going to say it was a coincidence, but then I realized that I didn’t put in that last panel. Amy Lago suggested the panel go dark, and I said sure, for narrative reasons alone. I was sure it was a coincidence, but I called Amy and she said she was very aware of the eclipse date and that’s why she did it. Didn’t even think to tell me or take a bow, which is the sign of a VERY self-confident editor.

Friday’s strip (26-Jun-2020) was the last new daily strip to be published, this one is a re-run from 2014. The Daily Cartoonist reported that syndication was abruptly cancelled on 31-Jul-2020. John Allen died two months later, on 20-Sep-2020.

Has it been settled just WHERE these characters are living? US? UK? Canada? (I wonder how many Americans would recognize the common British abbreviation “CV” – no, it does NOT mean “105”.)

It’s nice to see that Barney is willing to admit (or at least imply) that his new product is indeed vaporware.

As long as you are reading here at GoComics, the author has provided a useful review of names and attributes under the “Characters” tab of the menu directly above the strip, so bogging down the dialog with superfluous names shouldn’t be necessary.

In addition to Larson’s “Cannonball!” gag, mentioned above by Ahuehuete.

Precisely. There should have been an “Apologies to Gary Larson” in the corner. (Not to mention another Far Side panel in which one lemming had an inflatable ring.)
