Had hoped to post a “Mom’s right as usual” message but see it’s already been well covered by everyone else.
By the way, Shuttuppls, follow your namesake and shut up. I like to see Margueritem’s post each day.

to GweedoMurray: 9 Chickweed Lane is still around? I used to enjoy that very much until Houston Chronicle quit carrying it something like 3-4 years ago. Chronicle has always been pretty crappy on judgment about which comic strips to carry. Will try to look up 9 Chickweed Lane.

to Mike Firesmith: fine reference to the Pink Floyd song.

Good point, rshive. Never heard the term “frazz” before, but hadn’t noticed that Hobbes’ tail got all bushy in last frame until you noted it.

My Mama and Daddy occasionally used to spank me through the pants for childhood transgressions. Have managed to grow to age 60 (nearing 61 at end of June) without becoming a serial killer or committing other crimes. Is that meaningful in any way?

Calvinator, “You are correct, sir!” (imagine gruff voice of Ed McMahon addressing Johnny Carson). Calvin would NEVER be asking Susie about homework, so why is Mom not suspicious while passing by?

Could the tiger’s stripes lacking hues compared to “you-know-whose” possibly be related to Dad’s striped shirt?

Yes, a moonlit tramp through snowy woods sounds delightful, but here’s why I like to live in the far South (Houston): I like to visit mountain areas and ski on the snow, but want to leave it behind when I go home.
We had one of our rare every 5-6 years snowfalls late last year in Houston. Local yokels marveled at it (including me), but luckily it didn’t stick and was not a driving problem.

Kind of surprising that Calvin (he’s what, 8 or 9 years old?) still can’t figure that the sum of 5 + 7 is 12.
Wow, Calvin is lucky! As kid I had to take out the garbage, mow and edge the front lawn in spring and summer and rake the leaves and pine straw from it into fall and early winter (we lived in Southern city of Shreveport, LA). Am sure I’m leaving out couple of extra chores, but can’t remember them.
