With all the useless garbage on social media today, I’d pay for daily or weekly access to “Insights From Calvin”. Oh Mr. Watterson! Where art thou in our hour of need.

In my shop hangs an early 70s black light poster (framed) of Nixon sitting on the presidential john, pants around his ankles, holding a cigarette with the saying “Smile, things could be worse” printed below. DJT makes Nixon look quaint by comparison. There are still some for sale over on eBay.

Old enough to remember Kennedy. Old enough to remember when we didn’t welcome convicted felons to run for political office. Today? It shouldn’t be difficult to take a side when one side tried to overthrow the gov’t, watched ppl perish on January 6th, 2021 and has vowed to try again. I see that those quaint old rules guiding the press can’t be applied in a situation like this when the leader of one side wants to build an enemies list and do away with them.

I need a copy of that chart. To share with some friends in the press here who still “bothsides” this race.

RE – “why they hate us”: I recall Obama’s pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright giving a sermon in 2003, about chickens coming home to roost and Obama catching holy hell from the Right… because the guy told the dam’d truth. Google his words, they’re powerful still.

I still wear black and white checkered VANS. Although sadly they’re no longer made in California, but in SE Asia.

TV memories. Dad’s not quite correct, I have fond memories of staying up and watching late night horror movies on weekends in Cleveland. The Ghoul on channel 61 and Hoolihan and Big Chuck on channel 8. Those campy hosts were the best.

Ike was still in office when I entered this world. My Great Grandma, Sophia was born around 1900.
