   @martens misses all her friends – also not noted is the fact that the 911 caller told the operator that the gun was probably fake but the operator never relayed that information to the police. In addition this was not the first killing of an unarmed person by Cleveland police in the past year. They were skewered by the DOJ after they were investigated. The city of Cleveland’s attorney’s in response to a civil law suite filed against the city by the child’s parents were the ones that stated the 12 year old was responsible for getting himself killed.

   Another GOP hopeful, Rand Paul, has said vaccinations led to mental illness. Perhaps he was just observing the results of the inbreeding that goes on in the hills of his home state Kentucky.

   Since when does selling a few loose cigarettes rise to such a level that you need 5 cops to arrest an individual? And how can they say he was resisting arrest? He wasn’t being aggressive. He wasn’t fighting with the arresting officer. He was bull rushed for no good reason whatsoever. And the cops ignored his pleas of “I can’t breathe”. Perhaps the officer didn’t use a choke hold but they did restrict his windpipe in some manner. It was a reprehensible act that could have been totally avoided by one cop issuing a ticket and having Mr. Garner move on. The alleged offense, after all, was a misdemeanor. There was no excuse for Mr. Garner’s death at all.

   @Harleyquinn — did you even read the article you posted the link to? It specifically says, “As you would expect from a much more affluent group (e.g. the poverty rate among NFL players is zero), NFL players have much lower arrest rates than average — basically across the board:” Which included domestic abuse, assault, DUI and other crimes.

   The fact is people are blaming the NFL for something that is a societal problem and needs to be addressed at that level without the whole thing being put on the NFL’s shoulders.

   While separation of church and state is not a phrase found in the constitution, freedom of religion is found in the 1st amendment. Courts have ruled over the years that freedom of religion also implies freedom from religion. As a citizen of the USA, if I don’t want to be inundated with prayers, hymns, statues whatever depicting some god or saint or whatever, I can legally be spared that in public, government settings. That is the concept by which prayer and other such religious activities are prevented from being displayed in public by any government entity.
