Embedded reference to David Lynch’s 1990s alternative newspaper comic, “The Angriest Dog in the World.” Lynch’s comic was an important precedent for North’s Dinosaur Comics, in that it featured the same art from week to week, with changes only to the dialog balloons. http://www.lynchnet.com/angrydog/
Tiny Batman is missing from the last panel. Was it scrubbed by GoComics in an effort to avoid the wrath of DC/Warner? Or is this some sort of self-imposed censorship by Ryan North? Inquiring minds want to know!
The strip may say, “Post-Election,” but it was clearly written before the election, with an unspoken assumption that Hillary won. The satirical point of the strip is Donald trying to figure out why he wasn’t able to be elected.
That mis-fit between reality and satire is a big part of why this strip isn’t very funny.
Note that this strip ran well BEFORE Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, when his faulty memory was the excuse that kept him from being impeached over the Iran-Contra illegal diversion of funds.
Exactly my thought!
