This is just so beautifully drawn and composed. The floating panels give us moments of action, set against the larger panels frozen in time. The frame at the end with the reflections of trees in the water is just gorgeous. The more I read this strip the more I love it for its storytelling, warmth, and artistry.
Those panels are expertly done to create a sense of motion, light, and shadow. Brilliant. This strip deserves to be better known that it is. I’d put it up there with Mutts, Doonesbury or Calvin in terms of artistry. Also makes me want to flop under a tree with a big ole golden retriever …
