Queen of America Free

Retired at 54 to southern UT. BIG mistake. Oh, well, guess I'm stuck for a while. Husband and I cater to 3 cats. We also foster so it's rare that we don't have a spare cat or some kittens in the house. When we don't, it seems odd.

41 yrs and counting here. My sister commented once that she never heard me or my husband be mean to each other. I agree – there things we just have never, ever done. One of those things is to call each other names – other than stubborn. Which I am. I only ever see her insulting him. Would a person say mean things on purpose to a close friend? If so, that friendship would tank fairly quickly. Why give a spouse a pass on what you’d never do to a friend?

So how did they get the garland on the upper levels if they just figured out how to use the box for the star?

Our trash pick comes between 6:15 and “who knows when” so people here do tend to put it out the night before. My friend in another state says her pickup isn’t supposed to start before 7 AM. I don’t think we have that rule. I know it comes that early because I’m up and waiting by 5:30 so I can go out and get the barrel as soon as they leave.

All because she was being a (not nice word) and wouldn’t just tell him where his glasses were.

Our boys aren’t getting new marshmallow beds. They’re getting a new tunnel, some jingle toys, some little spring toys they like to bat under the sofa and a box of catnip knives covered in ‘blood’. They have some but they, too, end up in the sofa. Blackjack loves them – I think he’s watched too many Dexter episodes.

It’s nice that he recognizes his shortcomings. He won’t DO anything about them, but he does recognize them.

Here is a virtual high five to both of you!

I totally get that! I’ve taken to using a cane in the house at night. Even though we have plenty of nightlights, we have two cats and I refer to the black one as Tripping Hazard, Speed Bump and Door Stop.

    1. Thank you. I’m lucky that my parents never included my day with Christmas. The tree never went up until after the 10th.2. Pills (for both of us) are in my purse. So is my Kindle, loaded up with the max number of books. I no longer take a laptop, just my Fire. He takes a couple of his rodeo magazines.3. I’m SO not the ‘Yes, dear’ type. I’m the planner and the saver. Generally, we do decide where to go as a team but I make the reservations, etc. His job is driving. Once we get anywhere, I don’t get behind the wheel. One time, he asked me to drive from the back of the hotel to the front where he waited with the luggage cart. Boy, did I whine about that!

She has 8 or 9 inside playmates. They are are rescue ferals that my friends have managed to tame. If they get the kittens quick enough, it’s good. But sometimes, the mama cats keep their babies hidden for too long before taking them to my friends for food and water. She traps as many as she can so they can get fixed and shots. I help out by putting money into the vet account and we trade off on buying the 30 lb bags of food every three weeks. When I said I took three bags of toys over, one was for the ferals. They like mousies, balls, crinkle toys. One cat takes the mousies and hide them in her spot.
