   Oh, shuuurrr!!! Leave all your garbage & unwanted junk for the next owners! It took two dumpsters, a cleaning crew & a year of work just to make our first house able to go on the market. Then, when we bought it, we figured out that nobody had ever looked at the electrical system or plumbing. (They were both from the turn of the century, in a house built in 1947. May “Caveat Emptor” & “House Inspection” be consigned to H-E-Double-Hockey-Stcks!!!) But, sure, leave your garbage, why not?

   We got ours at a steal. We were doing the rent-with-money-going-towards-down-payment & finish the work, thing & the rehab company went belly up. So, they told us to hotfoot to the bank & see if we could get a loan for mortgage & get the house off their papers, or else we’d lose our down payments, maybe the house & if not, we’d need a vastly larger mortgage to get it. They asked forwhat was left of the money they owed on it. So we got our first house for $45,000, which included money for us to finish the work. WHEW!!!

   Absolutely! But, Sophie’s a cat, she doesn’t know the value of real maple syrup. Plus, cats have no ability to taste sweet, so, down it goes, to make a gloriously sticky mess with everything else. Her Opus Magnus!!!

   Stargazy pie is not the fish pie I was talking about. And, tho’ I’ve made & eaten fish pie with a great deal of enjoyment, the stargazy pie is never gonna be made or eaten by me!

   Yes, fish pie exists. It’s a white fish, like cod, in a white sauce with assorted veg & seasonings to taste, covered over with mashed potatoes & baked til bubbly & the taters have browned. Sometimes cheddar cheese is grated over top & shrimp can be added to the fish-n-veg mix. It’s just a fish version of cottage (beef) or shepherds (lamb or mutton) pie.

    They don’t call single-ply paper by it’s name, they try to turn the pig’s ear into a silk purse by calling it “economy”, or some such name. All to make it sound like you’re saving money buying their brand. Which you aren’t, since you need copious quantities to clean up.
