    Hi folks! It be me!

Sorry it’s been so long. As I said yesterday, it’s been busy, and I’m spending my down time trying to pursue this author/illustrator thing.

Thanks for being a fun audience in the past, but this is where I truly need help – please! Help me turn “Jonathan York” into AMP’s sleeper hit. The initial print run is 5,000 copies. If that sells out, I get a second print run, plus the book is declared a success, and I’ll likely be able to publish other stories/books with AMP.

And please – if you have the funds, by the hardcopy version, NOT the kindle/ebook (the publisher tracks the hardcopy sales, so kindle/ebook means little to me).

Here’s the author Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/korymerrittauthor?ref=hl

To better determine how many of you actually preordered the hardcopy book, I’m going to have a little competition/scavenger hunt-type thing this fall, just as the copies arrive (basically spotting certain cameos within the printed book). Winners will receive personalized original art.

I do miss “LSoS” and “Cork,” but based on my recent work with publishers, I don’t think they’re capable of supporting a book run, which is why I’ve largely abandoned them. This book could prove me wrong (though I’m not holding my breath).

And (last thing) if any of you have blogs or podcasts, I’d love any “York” promotion I can get. I doubt “GoComics” and “Kirkus Reviews” will be enough.

So thanks again! Hope to hear from more of you soon!Kory

End of chapter 2. I’m going to pull another George RR Martin and put this on hold for a while. I was hoping to have more of the story uploaded before that happened, as most of what I’ve posted this spring was actually drawn last summer and this winter, but it’s been a busy year for me. I’ve got the story written, but the drawing is the time-consuming part.Although I’m off on summer break and don’t start teaching again until September, I’ve got something else to keep me busy. About a year ago I was contacted by “Wimpy Kid” creator Jeff Kinney (awesome person!), who was interested in having me illustrate for his other big franchise, Poptropica. This past year I illustrated a Poptropica comic strip, which has started running in several different places, and now I’ve got a larger Poptropica project that’s going to require my full attention this summer.I’d love to do LSS full-time and post stories uninterrupted, but LSS just doesn’t make the money to do that, and I certainly couldn’t pass up a chance to illustrate projects for a franchise like Poptropica. I’ll work on “Cork” here and there and hopefully start posting new chapters again at some point in the fall.

So maybe most of you will be back in the fall for more of the story. I’m having fun with this one.

And they lived happily ever after and had lots of hecksuckers and goatbenders. Or maybe not. Originally the ending was going to be darker, particularly with Biff’s fate. Maybe it would have been less Hollywood, but that ending just felt too incomplete. So this is it.I’d love to keep going, as I’ve got lots of new stories I’d like to do, but it’s become a matter of time and money. I’m an art teacher by day, and starting last year I picked up some freelance projects that offer some exciting possibilities. But that leaves no time for LSS (LSS makes very little money, and my freelance projects pay very well).I’m still not convinced this site is a good format for me, since I’m not doing a comic strip here, and I do have a few other options, but I’ll probably be back on GoComics at some point with one or two more stories, one of which I started drawing last summer. I’m thinking maybe I’ll start posting this coming June or July when school lets out. I hope most of you won’t forget me in the meantime. So thanks so much for following along with me. Maybe one day LSS will be profitable enough that I can focus on the stories more regularly, or maybe make the jump to print, but for now I’ll be mainly working on other stuff. One of the projects – an upcoming syndicated newspaper comic strip, created by a best-selling author and written by a popular cartoonist – is about to debut on another site. And I may post a very short story here on GoComics in a month or so. And I’ll try to update my website:http://www.lostsideofsuburbia.com

    Thanks again!Kory

A LSS character has an unauthorized cameo in an animated music video. Check it out:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmVobsqs3Fg

Can you spot it? Don’t blink! It’s quick.USA Today has a full list of characters in the song:http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2014/01/13/video-premiere-roses-and-revolution-take-me-with-you/4425147/

Even with this list I only recognize a third of them. I live under a rock.

Hi! I’m going to recommend that some of you wait until Monday to read Sunday’s page. Might save a little frustration.

For those very-dear-to-me readers who’ve actually read all 500 plus pages of this story, I hope the ending doesn’t disappoint (and if you’ve liked it so far, I don’t think it will completely). But you’ll have to tolerate a few pages of Periwether, several more pages of gloominess, and a fake out before it gets to what’s coming.

Hi! Thanks for the welcome back. I’ve missed this comments section! I’ve had the story’s ending drawn for a month now, but I’ve been busy with my other projects and still haven’t finished the color. But I’ve got a three week lead, there will be updates this weekend, and hopefully I’ll get the coloring done soon.

I read through today’s comments, and I must say I’m really touched. I know LSOS is just an internet cartoon/book, and I don’t want to make too big a deal out of it or anything, but thanks so much for the support. You folks give me way more credit than I deserve.

Two more days until the end of the chapter, and then I’ll try to be back very soon.

Now that I’m awake, I’ll give a bit more detail. This commitment I mentioned: I’m pretty pumped about it! It involves a new franchise, and I get to work with one of the biggest names in children’s entertainment, someone who has had a string of hit books, movies, and is just an all-around awesome person. I really want this to work out, and I hope to make an impression, so I’m setting LSoS aside until I finish a few of the projects with this franchise. One of the projects is a syndicated newspaper comic strip that stars characters created by this mystery author. I’m slated as the illustrator, and the writer is already a successful syndicated cartoonist. If you’re a comic strip fan, you’ve probably heard of him.Another related project is a graphic novel with the same characters. And finally, unrelated to the franchise, Andrews McMeel has approached me about writing and illustrating a non-fiction book. Details are sketchy, nothing is definite, but it’s another potential delay for Lost Side Suburbia. So I’m really sorry for those of you who’ve been so loyal and awesome to me. Honestly, I was never crazy about the GoComics format for Lost Side, since it’s really not a comic and the one page a day makes it slow where it should be fast, but aside from a few whiny brats who can’t seem to figure this out, my experience with Uclick and FunBrain has been really positive, so I’d like to finish The Bogey and do at least one more story for GoComics. For those of you who will wait (and I don’t blame you if you bail – sorry to drag you along and then leave just before the end) I’ll try to update my website (link to the right) when I have a better idea of when I’ll post the final Bogey chapter and start the next story. Right now I’m thinking January, as I’ve got some deadlines to hit before Christmas. And feel free to email me if I’m slow to update the site, or if you want to know if Goatsucker is really dead. Thanks again for the support! Now off to school!Kory
