“It’s just that Frank, and, Nancy, don’t often see that side of Luann.”
Very True!! We know, in the security of our homes, that we have done our best to raise our children to be “good people”. Having someone outside our cocoon verify that, in a way we have not witnessed, will sometimes take us by surprise. Witnessing your children in a social setting can be eye opening!
Sweet story. My Daddy was raised from the age of five by a widowed mother. I don’t ever remember him saying no if there was a food item we requested. Candy not included – LOL. However, he did have a sweet tooth, so my Mother made excellent desserts daily.
After my parents passed, we were cleaning out their house. They had an extra-large chest type freezer in the garage. We found a 6 year old frozen chicken down in the bottom corner. My Mother could barely reach past the top 8 inches!
My niece has kept a fried apricot pie that was in the last batch my mother made (it was a family favorite). That thing is at least 25 years old.
Mrs. Horner is smart with years of wisdom. We would all be better off if we have a Mrs. Horner in our lives. Fortunately for me, it was my dear Mother, who shared her wisdom and love until her passing at 91! (1915-2006)
I’m not sure those of us living now will ever appreciate the changes the people of “The Greatest Generation” witnessed.
“Luann is close to a big revelation and she will get there thanks to the dear Mrs. Horner”
I was thinking the same – Next week is Thanksgiving in the USA – Possibly Luann will see that she has much for which to be Thankful, and her life really is filled with good things. Have you seen the story about the elderly woman taking a taxi to an assisted living center due to her bad health? Along the way she reminisces with the driver about what a blessed life she has had and how she is looking forward to living in this beautiful place she has never seen – Telling the driver at the end that she “Chooses to be Happy!” It really is possible! Blessings to you all, and may you find something to fill your heart with happiness – even for one hour!
I had one. It was pretty good for slicing brisket!
