Right now, I’m trying to get rid of an old analog TV. It looks as if THAT’s going to cost money.

My Fourth Grade teacher in Indiana (home to James Whitcomb Riley, the poet who wrote “LOA”) recited the poem to us several times during that school year. We were more amused than scared by it.

Historians and scientists, though the study of tree rings and ice cores, have determined 536 AD as the worst year to be alive. It is believed that, the year before, 535, there was a volcanic eruption somewhere on the planet. It might have been in the Western Hemisphere, it may have been an early eruption of Krakatoa. But it put so much debris in the atmosphere that it darkened the sky. There were crop failures, livestock breakdowns, etc, for the next several years. This was also about the time of the start of the plague of Justinian, which wiped out a good portion of the population of Europe. So, no, not a good time to exist.

And, also, I see this ending in a flash mob, with everyone singing and dancing to the Kim Possible theme.

I think a lot of people talking about how they can never forgive Jane Fonda are unfamiliar with Matthew, Chapter Seven, Verse One: “Do not judge or you, too, will be judged.” Don’t assume anyone, not Ms. Fonda, not Clinton, no, not even Trump, is beyond forgiving. If you can’t forgive, how can you be sure that YOU can be forgiven? That’s part of the Sermon on the Mount, and I’d say it means exactly what it says.

Sorry, Oliver, Super Bowl players tend to be big guys. No shrimps there. (But, years ago, there was a pretty good commercial about herding cats. Sorry, but GoComics won’t let me post a link. Find it on YouTube.)
