Back in my day, yes. I remember the er, competition between the bands in the stands when we played at Bucknell – their band mooned ours, so our band responded with a “tuba cheer” (5 sousaphones, & I’ll let you figure it out). Irritated the band directors, but it was all in fun.
Not an athlete, but I am a Gettysburg College alum. So that’s who Plank Gym was named for. Thanks for sharing your grandfather’s memories. The “ghost tours” were not a thing when I was a student, but I do remember the Tower, as well as the less-than-popular opinions about its presence.
Love the quote, but she needs to stop the performative politics every presidential election. Actually saw one of her signs on someone’s lawn a few days ago, so I guess it’s not a universal opinion.
Not in the Delaware Valley: We would watch cartoons every school morning with Sally Starr, Captain Noah, & Captain Kangaroo (RIP, & thanks for adding joy to our childhoods).
A bit younger than you, but recall Mom being willing to buy Super Sugar Crisp so we could cut out & play the 45s of The Archies and The Jackson 5.
