Ambroise Bierce said, "SATAN, n. One of the Creator's lamentable mistakes, repented in sashcloth and axes. Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said he. "Name it." "Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws." "What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul — you ask for the right to make his laws?" "Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself." It was so ordered."

Yes High School Harry (HSH) destruction of any work of Art or historical documents is, in the end, counter productive. However prevarications, deceit, & out & out lies—not unlike our current POTUS & his ilk – are far more evil & dangerous to this republican democracy, & its people, than you are able to wrap your “Little grey cells around”. On your Profile pg. you call yourself a “Rebel”, but you are no heroic rebel. So, for your edification allow me to list a few real rebels:

Sitting Bull – This 19th century Hunkpapa Lakota chief was a great warrior, but more importantly, he was a true leader defending his people and nation against white colonizers.

Harriet Tubman – She struck a massive blow in the name of equality. Born a slave, Tubman escaped & then proceeded to help many others do the same. During her lifetime, she was also a Civil War spy & scout for the United States & later championed the women’s suffrage movement. A rebel if there ever was one.

Alice Paul – She was born & educated in America, but her first experience with the women’s suffrage movement was in England. Here, she became close with fellow American activist Lucy Burns, & together they would mount numerous protests & acts of civil disobedience in the name of the women’s vote, resulting in multiple arrests. Returning to the U.S. in 1910, Paul became one of the country’s greatest champions for gender equality & an instrumental player in the passing of the 19th Amendment.

Martin Luther King Jr. – Arguably the most famous Civil Rights leader in world history & one of the greatest orators to ever step up to a podium. This rebel became a Baptist minister in his own right, an activist & one of the most inspirational figures of the century. From 1954 until the time of his assassin he was the voice & face of the American non-violet Civil Rights movement. Though hatred & fear led to his murder, no amount of it could kill his dream. You Sir, HSH, are none of the rebels listed above.

Right to freely grow or the right to trim? That line in the sand, depending on the politician you ask, moves all over the place…always has and always will; yet each new generation thinks they can keep it in one place.

    Self-Promotion vs. Self-Adulation – a lesson not learned:

Self-promotion works and self-adulation doesn’t because self-promotion is the art of spreading ideas, concepts, and a greater vision. Self-adulation is just the promotion of accomplishments, deeds that have already been done.

Revisionist history may reflect the truth more accurately, but remember—what is done is done and we are not going to change it now. Hopefully though we will learn from that history and not make the same mistake again…but in today’s politically reactionary America, an America that is an intellectually retarded redneck America, learning from the past is not very high on a progressive list of probabilities.
