Nothing like a “timely” 20-year-old gag

  2. almost 7 years ago on Get Fuzzy

    Bingo!

  3. almost 7 years ago on Barney & Clyde

Aptonym … also aptronym …. A proper name that aptly describes the occupation or character of the person, especially by coincidence. A person’s name that is regarded as amusingly appropriate to their occupation

Patty de foie gras … Patty DeFwagra ….

Foie gras is a luxury food product made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened. By French law, foie gras is defined as the liver of a duck or goose fattened by force-feeding corn with a feeding tube, a process also known as gavage

At least three more days of this … yay!

  6. over 7 years ago on Candorville

I’m going out on a limb here by proposing that the “toss from the plane” incident and the subsequent “albatrossectomy” were allegorical … not physically real … just emotionally …. hence Lemont’s seeming amazing “recovery” to confront Vancouver before she returns home …

  7. over 7 years ago on Cul de Sac

I remember anticipating the regular comic book sessions … and then Thompson announced that he could no longer do the strip …. because of the accelerating debilitation caused by Parkinson’s …. very sad … for him … his family and friends … and of course for those of us who became attached to the charm of Cul de Sac ….

“All your base are belong to us” is a broken English (“Engrish”) phrase found in the opening cutscene of the 1992 European release of the Mega Drive port of the 1989 arcade video game Zero Wing which became a popular Internet meme. The quote is included in the European version of the game, which features poor English translations of the original Japanese version. [Wikipedia]

I’m guessing Lemont’s first communion around age 5 or 6 [Confirmation is usually around 12-ish] … so he is about 41 or 42 … sounds about right …

  10. about 8 years ago on Candorville

    Yep! They are that OLD … 40-ish … I’m guessing …
