Yes, governments, can absolutely make rules that make things slightly better or, more often, much much worse for individuals. But it is the efforts and choices and innovations individuals that determine whether they will be wealthy or not.
Labor is just one input along many in creating value. Imagine two identical companies making the exact same products, same price, same quality. The owner of Company A employs 100 people. Owner B has zero employees and operates with a bunch of robots. Does that make Owner A a parasite and Owner B not? Would you rather have Owner A fire all of his employees and switch to robots too? Would that make him a better person? Marxism has always fundamentally misunderstood how the world works. Which is of course why Marxism has never worked anywhere.
