Back in 1952, when I was in 4th grade, I had a grumpy ol’ geezer for a replacement teacher when my original teacher was drafted for the Korean War. One Friday, when the guy next to me acted up, the old grump slapped him. I giggled and he also slapped me. I was so embarrassed, hurt and angry! I spent the following weekend wishing and praying that he wouldn’t be there on Monday. When I arrived on Monday, there was a woman teacher at the teacher’s desk. I asked a classmate what had happened to the ol’ geezer, and she said that on Sunday night he had sneezed so hard it blew out his eardrum and he wouldn’t be back. I felt glad and frightened at the same time. He was gone, but had my prayer been answered and that’s why he was gone? Gotta be careful what you pray for!
I also thought it’d be about the eclipse. Hope lots of you got a clear sight. Here in Cloudy Country, otherwise known as Central Pennsylvania, we only caught a sight of it about 2 hours after its zenith here.
Ouch. So sorry it ended like that.
