My Grandmothers used to leave the babies (both had 12 kids) under cabbage leaves while working the farm to keep them cool and protected. Then they would need to wait until the babies would cry to find them again. This is where our families stories of babies under cabbage leaves came from. Not sure about the origin of the tale.

Growing up one of the “Old Wive’s Tales” I read was that a sneeze was your soul trying to escape and the blessing was to protect your soul from the Devil. Struck me as funny even as a kid.

1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Watch for Donald Sutherland to point at Miles and Shriek.

Pete Townsend’s windmill strum is epic. Catching it live on film would be amazing. I’ve only seen it in documentaries.

When I was a kid my brother told me about a friend of his who attended a Who concert. I can’t recall the city, it was a long time ago. Roger Daltry was playing the harmonica and when he was finished the song he threw the harmonica into the audience into the waiting hands of my brother’s friend. He framed it and mounted it on his wall and never tired of telling that story.

Apparently I am not allowed to make a music reference to American Woman’s origins (banned word(s)). But I will say Van Morrison had the perfect voice for Gloria.

No kidding? That would have been memorable.

My older brother had all these bands in his collection when I was a kid. I’m grateful he introduced me to all these bands. Van Morrison may not have been as well known without Them.

When I was a kid (1970s) it was bikes all day with my friends and then we would play hide and seek at night in the front yards of homes on the block. We would need to wait until it was dark enough to play which in the Summer in Northern Canada is between 10:30 and 11:00 pm. We had to be really, really quiet to allowed to play at that time of night. That was so much fun.
