   How do you provide proof? You provide a link to the supposed school site that lists the retirement benefits. If it is a public school, they likely have this information readily available for employees and potential employees. That is the same thing I can do for my job. It lists how retirement is calculated. That information is easily found. But right now? No, you are just saying something and expecting to be believed without proof.

   @ekw555, @joeatwork212 Neither of you have provided any proof. The only thing you have done is provide “someone told me.” That is obviously NOT proof, only hearsay. No proof = disbelief.

   Hopefully it’s done legally. I know someone who used the same tax preparer for several years, along with other people. The tax preparer’s office was raided, and she was charged with several counts for filing incorrect returns. Apparently she would add dependents, and other inappropriate deductions, so her customers would get refunds. Now those same customers are on the hook for the incorrect returns and paying any back taxes and penalties. It was so many people that it hit the local metro news.

   The moral is to double check any return a tax preparer fills out for you. You are the one ultimately responsible.

   Name one school district that gives free healthcare for life after retirement (with proof!). And pensions are paid into by employee’s typically. I’ll wait.

   Even if you like cappucino’s or latte’s you can get a cheaper alternative. A good espresso machine will pay for itself in 2-3 months if you typically drink 2 per day, if the drinks averaging $5/each, and quicker if you are paying more for each one

   Thank you. It’s not a hard word, but so many people misspell it. Guess it bugs me because I fell in love with them as a kid, and have had Dalmatians since I grew up.

   Your mother was awful in this instance. Hopefully next time your dad got your mother a similar gift – ones that HE would like. Say a nice tool or tickets to a sporting event he would like to see. Sometimes being a little passive-aggressive will drive the point home.

    Time to go to one of the machines where you can sell your unused gift cards. Get the money, and go get what you really want.
