In that same period, my next door neighbor’s Dad was a delivery man for an Ice Cream company. Their freezer was always full of ice cream and we neighborhood kids loved it!
I remember an ad that old comic books had (maybe still do?) about a toy submarine made of cardboard that you could sit in. As I remember, it didn’t cost much more than a plain cardboard box.
“Rest his soul?” I’ve never heard that. Just “Bless his soul” or “bless you’re little pea-pickin’ heart…” – or even “rest in peace,” never “rest” his soul.
