   I dispute that vinyl can even begin to approach e.g. Apple Lossless for dynamic range, and that’s ignoring hiss, wow, and flutter. Don’t get me started on people who run the record player through a solid state digitizing amp – hell, I’ve seen USB record players! It’s a pretentious fad.

   Yes, but fresh ground coffee is awesome, and vinyl sucks. I mean, REALLY sucks. Hell, most of it is digitally mastered in the first place, so all you’re doing is adding hiss and blunting the dynamic response. If you REALLY want that, add it digitally during playback.
