I was raised by parents who were raised on farms and my dad and brother were hunters (not trophy hunters, we ate what was killed) and we all fished. I watched Bambi and I will still leak tears when Bambi’s mother dies but I knew those were stories and not literal facts.
Kids don’t need to see animals butched without some preperation, but let them see farms with fruit trees, laying hens, ducks, tomato plants, and cattle. Let them grow some radishes or carrots. Let them learn that food doesn’t sprout in stores in plastic wrap.
Unless you and your family are living a vegan or vegetarian life (which is a valid choice), it’s foolish to encourage unrealistic attitudes about food. Whether it’s plants or animals, somethings dies and somethings eats, it’s all part of life and our part in it.
Yup, cut the cord, I have.
