   This is the second week in a row that the Dallas (a blue spot in Texas) newspaper has run an alternate, apolitical, strip, not the one that appears on this page. Seems smart, considering the fuss that ensued when Mallard Fillmore was discontinued because of complaints about editorial content on the comics page.

   There is an old joke about a comedians convention, where they all chuckle when a number is called, because they’ve numbered every joke in the world. Then a number is called out and gets a belly laugh because they never heard that one before. When I say old, I mean maybe Reader’s Digest 1960?
