They remind me of the Golf Gods that hang around on clouds arguing which of them was going to ruin my round on any given day, e.g. the Chipping God says to the Putting God, “It’s my turn today! You wrecked his round last time!”
After being out in the working world for quite some time, our son asked me why there are so many bad managers. I replied that it is simply a matter of supply-and-demand. There are far more managerial positions than there are people who are capable of being good managers.
That’s pretty much what happened to me. I was devastated at the time, but it ended up being the best thing that ever happened to me. What an upgrade I received! I have since had 45 wonderful years of marriage.
