“I’m bit embarrassed to admit this (…)”

You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed by. Ok, I don’t know you, so maybe. But nothing in your comment is embarrassing in any way.

You are right. The strip was originally published in 1989:

    /calvinandhobbes/1989/03/12

The reason for the ©1994 is that we are re-visiting all the strips including re-runs, and we are currently re-visiting those that were published in 1994 (although the Sundays are ahead of the weekdays by three weeks).

    /calvinandhobbes/1994/05/15

Interestingly, that ©1994 copyright notice was not in the 1994 version, which has an almost illegible ©1989 notice, thought different from the original notice (the one from the 1989 version).

Ha! I had not noticed the frog in the last panel. Thanks for pointing it out.

Funny. In Newsmax’s own website they report the incident and provide quite a bit of information (including the contents of the man’s pamphlets and of the website they linked to), but they mention nothing about his anti-Trump stance. And the footage included shows the police going directly to extinguish the fire.

newsmax (dot) com (slash) newsfront (slash) self-immolation-trump-trial-nyc/2024/04/19/id/1161722/

For some reason the comment-nanny stopped complaining about the slashes at the end. But for everyone’s sanity I made a shortened version:

    shorturl (dot) at (slash) lovH0

My point: Newsmax itself is not standing behind the assertions from their own reporter, in a matter that is very much for their interest. And it would be very easy to prove since there are tons of footage of the protestors, even Newsmax themselves would surely have footage of the man from the day before.

If there is such footage it will surely surface in the next couple of days. If it doesn’t you can rest assured that the reporter was mis-remembering things or maybe making them up.

I find it peculiar that Martin wears the blindfold over his glasses.

I didn’t see such a comment either. Maybe they were written after my daily visit. But now that you mention it, this strip from 2011 shows another Sedgwick possession event, just as Auntie Nell said…

But… Jarvis is actually there… So maybe the smug commenters are right after all…

Try something like /monty/2010/12/17 and /monty/2011/01/25

The idea is that the user copies the string and appends it to the basic GoComics URL in the address bar.

If you are saying that he is doing the cooking, then that’s precisely my point: He should add the amount of salt adequate for the person who can handle the least (for taste or health reasons) because everyone else can add salt at the table.

If, like a good Wiley Bear in disguise, you are saying that he is being part of the cooking, then he doesn’t have much say. But I personally would prefer to be cooked in a low-salt environment if at all.

BTW, I also like rather salty food. Normally I cook for myself only, and then I add as much salt or salty ingredients as I want. But when other people will be eating my food I always take them into consideration and ideally ask for their input during the cooking process.

Hint – Half of a drop”

But how do you measure half a drop?  (The answer is: With a micropipette. But that is lab equipment, not a kitchen utensil.)
