   You have supportive friends in here too Manders, I’m glad to know you. I personally find that the discouraging comments are a test of healing and maturity. In the past decade they’ve been less and less upsetting.

   I know someone who said that was her experience. I’m guessing it was yours too? Did you turn your head to the side? My daughter said that it hurts which it does if the water is a bit warm or cold. It needs to be body temperature so that you don’t feel it when you drip it onto your arm, pour a bit out first if the water is in the spout where it tends to be cooler.

   I don’t know about that but I do know a nurse who recommends saline for mouth sores and allergies. My personal experience is that the meds dry our the mucous membranes leaving sores in my nasal passage which never happens with saline rinse. If my nose feels sore or if there’s blood in my tissue saline makes it so much better.

   Side effects of cold medicine include; Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, upset stomach, nausea, nervousness, constipation, or dry mouth/nose/throat

   For many, the side effects aren’t worth the meds. I’ll stick to my Neti pot saline rinse

   The difference is that Earl know that cold medicine calms the symptoms but doesn’t cure the cold. Cold medicine dries up the mucous membranes leaving them sore as well as Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, upset stomach, nausea, nervousness, constipation, or dry mouth/nose/throat
