when my son was small, he would ask for “mac and cheese and ham but no green balls” – i added shredded ham and peas to mac and cheese, unless he complained, then peas on the side, which he would eat without issue, funny kid
never knew – we used to celebrate Kid’s Day the day before Mother’s Day – without them i would not be a mother – we typically went on a picnic, long walk, games at home, their favorite dinner – my way of saying thank you, i love you – now, adults, we still talk about and laugh about Kid’s Day
it’s been about 55 years since i went trick-or-treating in my small country hometown. i remember toothbrushes from our only dentist, pencils from 2 teachers, mini pack of crayons from the owner of 5-and-dime store, homemade popcorn balls and cookies, fresh fruit, quarters and dimes, hot homemade apple cider, homemade costumes when store bought were the rage. i miss those days
