ust an FYI – I wrote, drew, and published this comic well over a decade ago, it is reprinted here. Not sure when the other comic posted was made or who created it, but I would certainly never assume she/he stole the idea from me, as I did not steal it from her/him. Cartoonists look for humor in the world around them, and it is not uncommon for different creators to come up with very similar gags. I’d actually be shocked if numerous cartoonists haven’t done Calvin medication comics, it seems like a pretty natural link. In general, I think almost all cartoonists are creative people trying to be funny and as original as possible, and wouldn’t want to rip off a peer. I am sure there have been some who have copied someone else’s work, but I definitely feel that is rare – the exception, not the rule. Just my two cents, as no one wants to be accused of “theft” of any kind, particularly when they don’t engage in the practice. Totally unrelated – for anyone at NY Comic Con, I’ll be signing/sketching books at the National Cartoonists Society Booth on Saturday, October 5th from 10am to 1pm. If you look me up and friend me on FB, I have more details posted. Cheers!

No apology necessary! Just having fun with the “why” he was lobotomized. Might have missed the mark.
