Deb I. --- I'm a professional musician/teacher in southwest MI. I'm an adjunct at Notre Dame, St. Mary's College, Andrews University and Indiana Univ. South Bend. I play in several local groups, and teach lots of private students. I was mom to Mippy, our miracle cat who sadly went to the Rainbow Bridge 1/25/21. But I'm now mom to Iggy and Punto, adopted 1/22/22. My husband was a retired musician, recently passed due to complications from Alzheimer's.

Yes, the cruelty is the point. You definitely don’t want to hear about what Doug Hamlin, current NRA leader, and his college frat buddies did to a cat.

I haver a bathroom remodel going right now — I decided to do one room at a time. It’s still a lot. My cats have requested that their mail be forwarded to “under the couch in the basement studio”.

Musicians have to start somewhere. I always find it wonderful to hear the progress that kids in the band and the orchestra make within a school year, as well as hearing the high school groups the are the result of those early shaky efforts. Teasing your kid or making them quit when their first efforts on an instrument are hard to listen to is a huge mistake. And school bands do more than train future musicians — they learn teamwork, working toward a larger goal, delayed gratification, and an appreciation for the arts, not to mention the fact that research has shown that kids who participate in music do better in school generally.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you even live anywhere near MI?
