Holy crap, Brass Orchid. After perusing your brilliant and profound use of the English language, my head swelled and I tipped over, spilling several bushels of words out my nose and ears and onto my kitchen floor which I slipped on and tumbled into the living room where I lay on my back for a minute or two.My wife calmly looked up from where she had been sitting and knitting a cat and remarked – “So, was the coffee strong enough?”Brilliant!

True story. Fifteen years ago I represented a local radio station in a “Media Sled Dog Race” in Laconia NH as part of a national race weekend. I was given a six team sled (I had never handled sled dogs in my life – so you can guess what’s coming) The starter fired the starting gun and the resulting acceleration almost pulled the ashe sled out of my hands. My god those dogs could run! Half way home I dumped the sled and the dogs immediately sat and waited for me to clean the slush off my glasses and stand up.I swear they were laughing!

Here in central New Hampshire many turkeys drop by my house every week or so. I pulled into my driveway last week and found they had assembled for a caucus.I didn’t hit any but I saw most of them take off flying – some were 20 or 30 feet in the air.No matter what Mr. Carlson said……

    Turkeys can fly.

One of our kids is still living with us – (yeah, one out of five is pretty good) so I just give her my presents to wrap. Why dissolve into curses and tears at this time of year.

Strangely enough I’m into my yearly reading of LOTR and, in fact, I just finished the part where that “fool of a Took” Pippin gazed briefly into the Palantir.

Harry – a friend of mine was driving up north here in New Hampshire where French is preferred. She saw the sign “Fines Doubled” and thought it was pronounced “Fee-nayz due-blay”. Although what that would mean in English I haven’t the foggiest.
