   I homeschooled my kids. We had baseball teams, there is even a homeschool baseball world series. We had proms, very, very nice proms, and other school dances. Band, choir, debate, public speaking, drama, field trips, and other opportunities, all top-notch. I don’t know about football, though.    We had a guy who was supposed to be fixing our furnace, in a condo we were renting, which was in the attic. He fell through the ceiling in TWO different rooms, the bathroom and our baby’s room. What a mess THAT was to clean up! And yes, I had to clean it up. . . he could barely even walk after that.

   This guy. . . he didn’t even bring a ladder the first time he came. . . he wanted to use my kid’s Little Tykes slide (made for a maximum of 70 lbs.) to get into the attic! I said no, and he had to go get a ladder and come back.

   We adopted one of our daughters from Russia when she was 13. She had a lot of dental work to be done and she was TERRIFIED, and rightly so. In Russia she had had teeth pulled and cavities drilled and filled with no novocaine.

   When I was a kid in the 60’s and we used big clunky lights on the tree, my grandparents called the little lights (the kind we use now) Italian lights.

    @summerdog, you always clean up the kid first, so she doesn’t track more soot around while you are cleaning up the soot.
