The original post was about the “far left.” I responded to that post. He then brought up the Soviet Union in his response. That was a totalitarian state. As I mentioned in my 2nd response, it’s NOT about right or left, but about the belief that one has all the answers and could fix everything if everyone else would just shut up and stay out of the way. That never ends well regardless of which end of the political spectrum they prefer.
Just one little problem with your story…every totalitarian state has devolved into such violence. There has never been a peaceful police state. This is not a right vs left thing. It’s a power-hungry elitist thing. They’ll say whatever will get them where they want to go. Only then do they reveal their true nature.
Actually the far left wants to be in charge of determining who gets thrown against the wall and shot once the revolution comes. Of course, the joke’s on them as they don’t realize that the first ones against the wall will be them once they’ve served the purpose of their more pragmatic ilk. Sorry, AOC, but you won’t live long enough to see the dystopia you’re fighting for. Maybe you’ll live long enough to write an anti-totalitarian work like Orwell did with 1984, but I doubt it.
Context matters. All of those tortured meanings make no sense given the comic strip that elicited the comment. Given that the strip is about censors, it’s pretty clear that the commenter is talking about those who police words. I got it right away just as, I’m rather sure, did most others who read the comment.
Either he used his right arm to chop the board thus injuring it, or his right arm, as shown in panel 2, was already badly contorted/disjointed behind his back.
And FAIL.
