A Mary Sue is a character who is so powerful that nothing is a real challenge for them. Such characters make stories boring because there’s never any real tension or concern that anything of note will be lost. This tends to come up in discussions of super heroes, and people debate whether Superman or Captain Marvel (among others) are such characters.
I have to say that the look on Dana’s face in the 2nd panel is perfect. Processing…processing…reaction forthcoming in 3…2…1… This strip is drawn REALLY well.
Actually, given the odds of abiogenesis working as an unguided process, it’s highly unlikely that life of any kind should have arisen even once in the universe…much less twice. Your billions of galaxies full of billions of stars are 10^18 to 10^22; the odds of getting one functional protein needed for the first cell through an unguided process are 1 in 10^164. Not even close to a contest.
You know, it’d really stink to be a Nigerian prince at all given that they’re a republic. You’d have to get a real job.
