The worst scenarios related to this is when the Police makes this mistake and barges into a house where innocent people live and treat them like criminals, then realize they messed up and don’t even apologize or take accountability! I’ve seen it on the news more than once recently.
Not only that, but I just had a student that transferred to my class today from another school who told me he was bullied over there and only lasted 5 months because of beatings after school and threats. His teacher did nothing and the bullies got away with no punishment or consequences. My student told me another of the teachers accused him of being a “snitch”. This kid is 10 years old! He just moved to the US and is still learning English. Another way public schools fail! However, my school is not like that, even though same district. I reported the incident to the counselor at the school’s Wellness Center and she talked to the student and principal and will find out about that school.
Miserable how? Because of how society has treated us especially by those who supposedly are religious? Because it’s harder to find a significant other? Because we’ve not gotten the same rights as others? It’s a difficult life but I wouldn’t say miserable. I’m gay and Catholic and a teacher and volunteer at my church and I am capable of loving others and am loved by my students and much appreciated by the staff. That makes me pretty not miserable.
I’m an art major but I rarely paint anymore. The last time was like a year ago at least. It’s not only expensive but if you don’t have an actual studio, the setting up and cleaning up takes up more of your time than the actual painting time.
That should be the “correct” thing to do but (perhaps unfortunately), it’s a thing of the past. Lamentably, now people go to the store and even my students come to class in their pajama bottoms on a regular basis. Even when it’s not pajama day. I’m 41 but even I appreciate a bit of class more so than my own generation.
Or really enjoy international stuff. I’m Mexican and live in a predominantely Hispanic/Asian community and I always see my Latino students drinking that. And the Asian kids often with Mexican snacks.
