Spoiler: Usually a spoiler is signalled by stating it is a spoiler at the start of the comment. In this case, nixie224 could have said “Spoiler about the puppies” in one comment, and then in the comment below posted that the Patterson adopt one. That way anyone who wanted to avoid spoilers could do so. Otherwise anyone who wants to avoid spoilers must exclude themselves from all comments.

Good point! Anecdotally I think people on FaceTime project more, so louder – but I wonder if that’s true or just my own annoyance distorting my perception.
I have one item from each of my grandmothers: a cake plate from one, and a sewing box from the other. And I like using them, but I don’t anticipate my children will necessary want them, either! But because I used them, they might associate them with me rather than my grandparents? We’ll see. It’s only stuff!
I would assume that’s not the only principle, however – otherwise why not invest in the mafia? drug cartels? etc. And thankfully our laws have continued to change over the years to aim for better ethics. Our laws just haven’t caught up to reality, yet – but someone needs to lead the change, and that’s Betty’s aim.
