    Conservatives don’t want things to stay the same. They want them to go back to the way they were. When they say “Take our country back,” they mean “back to the 1950s.” If not even earlier.

    The word is “complement,” meaning “go well with.”

    “Compliment” means “to praise.”

    I don’t expect cartoonists to be strict grammarians, but doesn’t somebody edit these thing?

    In the UK, I’ve seen metal dividers between seat spaces on the benches, to prevent people lying down to sleep on them.

    I’m starting to feel sorry for the guy. I get the impression some slick operators are feeding him BS and taking his money, and he doesn’t know enough to realize he is being conned.

    The thing that’s always confused me: with all the world to choose from, why would God plant that tree in the Garden of Eden? And why didn’t he warn Eve not to listen to the snake?

    Yes. I asked it to write a paragraph describing a sunset in the style of Hemingway and again in the style of Jack Vance. Neither para had anything resembling the distinctive styles of those authors. They were like something written by high schoolers.
