In 2021 you could take up to $600. When I filed for 2022 they had discontinued that deduction. My CPA was concerned that some charities would be hurt because of it. I based my comment on personal experiences. You’re certainly free to believe it or not. While raising the Standard Deduction, the IRS has been, over the years, gradually removing all other allowable deductions including mortgage Interest, interest on personal expanses, and the amount allowed for charitable giving (at one time you could deduct the entire amount you had given during the year)
